Somatic Experiencing®

Our bodies remember what our minds forget.

Sometimes we feel stuck — in pain, in patterns, in overwhelm — without knowing why. Maybe it shows up as anxiety, difficulty relaxing, chronic tension, digestive issues, or a sense of being disconnected from yourself or others.

Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a gentle, body-based approach to healing that helps you come back into contact with your sensations, boundaries, and inner resources. It’s not about reliving the past, but about helping your nervous system renegotiate it — so you can move through life with more ease, presence, and choice.

What is Somatic Experiencing?

Somatic Experiencing is a trauma healing modality developed by Dr. Peter Levine. It’s based on the idea that unresolved stress and trauma can get “stuck” in the body — especially when we’ve had to override our natural responses (like fight, flight, or freeze).

By gently guiding attention to the body’s internal landscape — sensations, impulses, micro-movements — SE helps the nervous system complete these interrupted processes.

The work is slow, respectful, and always led by what feels manageable and safe for you.

Somatic support can help with:

  • Feeling disconnected from your body or emotions
  • Chronic pain, fatigue, tension, or migraines
  • Digestive problems or breathing difficulties
  • Anxiety or hypervigilance
  • Feeling “frozen” or dissociated
  • Difficulty with boundaries or saying no
  • A sense of being “too much” or “not enough”
  • Experiences of medical trauma, surgery, or accidents
  • Developmental and attachment trauma
  • Sexual difficulties that feel rooted in body memory
  • Grief, transitions, and complex life experiences
  • Touch sensitivity or discomfort being in your body
  • A desire to reconnect with pleasure, safety, and trust

You don’t need to name it as trauma. We can simply start with what’s showing up in your body right now.

How I work

I bring my training in Somatic Experiencing and Clinical Sexology together. This means our work can include both body and mind, especially when issues feel relational, intimate, or hard to talk about.

I don’t use one-size-fits-all techniques. We go slowly. I listen closely. We follow your rhythms, your pace, your signals — not a predefined map.

Some sessions might be mostly talking. Others might include guided attention to your body, small movements, or noticing how your system responds in the moment. You’re always in charge.

This work might be right for you if:

  • You’ve tried talk therapy, but something still feels unresolved
  • You want to get out of your head and reconnect with your body
  • You sense that something in your body “knows” — but you’re not sure how to listen
  • You want support that’s gentle, non-pathologizing, and deeply attuned
  • You’re interested in a slower, more sustainable path to healing

A space where nothing about you is too much

I offer a welcoming and inclusive practice, with sensitivity to queer and trans experiencesmigration storiesbody shame, and the many ways people survive and adapt.

There’s no pressure to perform or explain. You don’t have to have the right words. We can start from what’s hard to name — or what’s just quietly asking for attention.
